Why Does God Allow Suffering?
Good Creator, Bad World - Why?
According to the Bible, God did not create a world with suffering. Then why does God allow suffering? Genesis 1 tells us that when God created everything, it was very good. Not even animals hurt each other, neither was there any pain. We see how sin, pain, and suffering came about through the deception of Lucifer. Lucifer was a perfect being in the beginning, but he tried to exalt himself above God—he wanted to be like the Most High. As a result, he was sent out of heaven. When Jesus was on earth He showed us a picture of the Father, in that He loved all people. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” A loving God would not allow pain to go on forever. God will bring it to an end. The question is: who will we follow? God, who is full of love and gives us freedom of choice, or Lucifer, the father of lies and suffering?
